The maintenance of our mats is an important aspect in order to extend their durability. Take good care of it and you will have it as good as new for a long time.
It is important to bear in mind that, depending on the material your mat is made of, you will have to clean it in one way or another.
For example, for our Earth and Air mats, the natural cork surface is antibacterial, waterproof and antifungal, so it will only need occasional washing with a soft cloth and cold water if it gets dirty or is exposed to strong odours for a long time. Then let it dry and that's it!
In the case of the Water and Fire mats, their Eco-PU surface is antibacterial and waterproof. However, its outermost part is made with a certain porosity to increase grip, so it is not advisable to use liquids that could leave stains, such as creams or oils.
We recommend cleaning it from time to time (if stains are visible or if excess of sweat has been left on it) with a soft, slightly wet cloth to remove surface dust. If there are any occasional stains you can add a drop of alcohol-free soap!
Don't forget to let it dry before rolling it up again.
It is also important that your mat is not exposed to direct sunlight as it is made of natural rubber and could deteriorate over time.
Finally, let's talk about the smell of the mat. Green Soul mats do not contain any aromatic chemical agents, so the initial smell will be that of natural rubber. If you don't like it, you can leave it with some ventilation and it will go away.
